I Stopped Trying to Catch Up

One thing used to ruin my days more than anything else.

Feeling behind.

The strange part was that I wasn’t only behind on work.

I felt behind in life.

Behind on learning.

Behind on plans.

Behind on becoming the person I thought I should already be.

So I rushed.

And the more I rushed…

The more mistakes I made.

Now I remind myself of something simple.

Life isn’t asking me to catch up.

It’s asking me to be here.

There is only one task.

The one in front of me.

Everything else can wait its turn.

Oddly enough, I get more done now.

Not because I move faster.

Because I stop carrying tomorrow while I’m still living today.

Today’s gentle thought

You don’t have to catch up to your life.

You only have to return to it.
