Why Forcing Productivity Backfires

Traditional productivity systems assume steady energy and predictable focus. ADHD rarely works that way.

For a long time, I tried to force myself into structures that weren’t designed for how I function. The result was always the same: short bursts of output followed by collapse.

The shift came from stepping out of that fight.

Instead of working against low-energy states, I began working with them. Shorter sessions. Clear stopping points. Fewer priorities at once.

As pressure dropped, output improved.

This isn’t about lowering standards.
It’s about respecting how attention actually moves.

If productivity keeps falling apart, the system — not the person — may be the problem.
